The French fashion house was founded in 1947 when Christian Dior changed the way women dress, returning her femininity in an atmosphere of post-war Europe. La Maison Dior has throughout its history been in the hands of Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco and John Galliano.
Since April 2007, the Belgian designer Kris Van Assche is the creative director of Dior Homme, taking over from Hedi Slimane. Van Assche graduated from the mythical academy Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts just like Martin Margiela and Dries Van Noten among others. He later moved to Paris where he worked with Hedi Slimane at Yves Saint Laurent and then, in 2005, he founded his own haute couture brand, Kris Van Assche.
